- 2 eggs - 80 g (½ cup) condensed milk (or 50 g (4 tbsp.) white sugar + 50 ml (3,5 tbsp) milk) - 80 ml (¼ cup) coffee - ½ tsp. cinnamon - ½ tsp. salt - 50 g (4 tbsp.) unsalted butter - 6-8 slices of bread To serve: - 100 g (3 ½ oz) mascarpone or cream cheese - ½ lemon (zest + a little juice) - 75 g (6 tbsp.) powdered sugar - favorite berries/fruits
Beat eggs with cinnamon and salt. Add condensed milk (or milk/sugar mixture) and coffee. Stir until smooth, allowing the sugar and salt to dissolve completely.
Dip bread in egg and coffee mixture on both sides, drizzle off excess liquid. Fry bread in butter in a wide skillet until golden crust on both sides, 2 to 3 minutes on each side to toast evenly browned.
Mix the mascarpone (or cream cheese) with the powdered sugar. Add the zest and juice of half a lemon, mix well. Serve the toast with the mascarpone cream and your favorite berries/fruit.
