Tilapia in a creamy garlic sauce is a great option for a quick dinner. We will mix the breadcrumbs with grated parmesan and season with paprika. We roll the tilapia fillets in this breading mixture and put them in the oven. The tilapia will be soft on the inside and crispy on the outside with a tangy flavor thanks to the parmesan and paprika. And while the fish is baking in the oven, poach the garlic in butter, mix it with cream and make an awesome cream-garlic sauce.

It’s very appetizing, and most importantly quick and easy.

🥣 Ingredients

Ingredients for Tilapia in Parmesan Breaded Tilapia: Tilapia, Parmesan, cream, paprika, butter, parsley, garlic, olive oil, lemon

For 4 servings:

  • 4 tilapia fillets (about 500 g (18 oz) total weight)
  • 50 g (1,8 oz) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tsp. sweet paprika
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 70 g (2,5 oz) Parmesan cheese (or Grana Padano cheese)
  • 30 g (1,1 oz) breadcrumbs
  • 100 ml (6,8 tbsp) heavy cream (30%+)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (extra-virgin)
  • 2-3 stalks of parsley

 🔪Step by step Directions

⏱ Cooking time — 20 minutes overall. Includes 15 minutes of preparation and cooking + 5 minutes unattended.

Preheat the oven to 200 ° C / 400 ° F, mode top + bottom + fan (convection).

Frozen tilapia should be thawed beforehand. To do this, move it from the freezer to the refrigerator the day before cooking and then take it out of the refrigerator 40 minutes before cooking. A quicker way to defrost is to put the frozen fish in a bowl of cold water and let it thaw. This method will take you about an hour.

Prepare the breading mixture. To do this, mix 30 g (1,1 oz) of breadcrumbs, grate 70 g (2,5 oz) of Parmesan on a fine grater, add 1 tsp of paprika, salt with a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir to mix.

Finely chop the parsley greens and add to the breading mixture.

Brush all sides of the tilapia with 1 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil.

Roll the tilapia in the breadcrumbs on all sides and place on a baking tray.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes.

In the meantime, let’s make the sauce.

Finely chop 3 garlic cloves.

Melt 50g (1,8 oz) of butter over a low heat in a small saucepan. Add the garlic and stew for 3 to 4 minutes, but do not overcook.

Pour 100 ml (6,8 tbsp) of cream into a saucepan and stir until it boils. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon, salt to taste and stir.

When the tilapia is ready – take it out of the oven, spread it on plates, pour the sauce and serve.
